Are Nostradamus Predictions True?

Mukta Gaikwad
So, are Nostradamus predictions true? Many argue for and many say otherwise. Whatever may be the argument, the fact remains that his past predictions have had some just cause for belief, when compared with events that have correlated with his words.
A fortune teller vaguely draws an outline for your life, whose certainty is questionable till proven so by fate. But, Nostradamus was one French seer of an unquestionable repute. Centuries after his death, the world refers to his quatrains a guide to knowing epoch making events. His predictions are clear indicators of physical senses, absent in commoners.
Many argue that the verses haven't been written by him at all. However, his prediction about London fire, Henry II's death and the famous twin tower attacks remain inexplicable. Studies and interpretations of his writings validate his foresight, which hold a life changing event for the world, even today.

Nostradamus Predictions That Came True

9/11 Terrorist Attacks

"In the year of the new century and nine months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror.
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city....
...In the city of york there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos
While the fortress falls; the great leader will succumb;
Third big war will begin when the big city is burning."

Interpretation

This verse is largely agreed as the one that predicted the terror attack on America. The first line of this verse clearly states the time frame of the event. King of Terror indicates the weapons and the perpetrators of violence, who masterminded the attack.
In the next line he describes the attack. In the second verse, he states where the attack will occur. 'Twin Brothers' refers to the twin towers which collapsed and led to fall of American President after he declared war on Iraq, the 'third big war'. This is the exact sequence of the incidents!

Henry II's Death

"The young lion shall overcome the older one,
on the field of combat in single battle,
He shall pierce his eyes in a golden cage,
Two forces one, then he shall die a cruel death."

Interpretation

Nostradamus predicted King Henry II's death and told him repeatedly to not be a part of upcoming jousting tournament. However, the adamant King took part against Comte de Montgomery, who was six years younger than him. The two had golden lions embossed on their shields.
In the last assault, Montgomery's wooden lance pierced through the King's headgear, blinding his right eye. The deaden King went through several painful remedies to fight his unavoidable end, until he succumbed to it on the 10th day.

French Revolution

"From the enslaved people, songs, chants and demands,
The princes and lords are held captive in prisons:
In the future by such headless idiots
These will be taken as divine utterances."
"Before the war comes,
The great wall will fall,
The King will be executed, his death coming too soon will be lamented.
(The guards) will swim in blood,
Near the River Seine the soil will be bloodied."

Interpretation

The Bastille prison was symbol of France's brutal monarchy, ruling for centuries. On July 14th, 1789 the prison was attacked and destroyed, marking the start of the French Revolution. The guards were fired, people killed and a bloodied war took over the streets of France. The cruel autocratic rule was overthrown 200 years after Nostradamus predicted it.

Hitler and the Second World War

"The two greatest ones of Asia and of Africa,
From the Rhine and Lower Danube they will be said to have come,
Cries, tears at Malta and the Ligurian side."
"From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East .
Beasts ferocious from hunger will swim across rivers:
The greater one will cause it to be dragged in an iron cage
When the Germany child will observe nothing."

Interpretation

'Beast' refers to Adolf Hitler and his army, which crossed over to capture France. The second verse clearly reflect Hitler's early years and his past. The 'iron cage' indicates his tanks and his military machines, which were unheard of in seer's age. This verse clearly predicts how rise of Hitler led to Second World War.

Other Predictions that Have Come True

Death of Princess Diana

"The penultimate of the surname of Prophet
Will take Diana [Thursday] for his day and rest:
He will wander because of a frantic head,
And delivering a great people from subjection."

Death of Mother Teresa

"Near the death of the Pillar of a palace,
An Indian people, take away the 2, a petite royal,
Way of a saint, a deliverer of the mud, a French Saints order,
a dwarf nun, deformed, a traveler, worm of the fruit."

Louis Pasteur for Pasteurization and Discovery of Microscopic Germs

"The unseen is discovered, hidden for such a long time,
He will, Pasteur, as a demi-God be honored;
This is when the moon completes her great cycle (1880's)
But through other's slanders, he will be dishonored."

Hurricane Katrina

"The cities of Tours, Orleans, Blois, Angers, Reims and Nantes
are troubled by sudden change.
Tents will be pitched by (people) of foreign tongues;
rivers, darts at Rennes, shaking of land and sea."

The Iraq War

"On the field of Iran, of Arabia and of Eastern Turkey
Two great armies will assemble three times
Near the river Araks
The host of the great Suleiman will be cut off
"By firepower of armies, not far from the Black Sea,
He will come from Iran to occupy Trebizond

From the Black Sea and the great Tartary;
a would be king will come to see Gaul
He will transpire Alania and Armenia
and in Istanbul will leave his bloody standard."
Greatest seer of all time, he also predicted the world to come to an end by 2012, a time when the Arab and Christian world were likely to be the cause of another World War. He said, the nations which would stay away from this gruesome war, would emerge as superpowers.
China and India were assumed to be the nations in question. Not all predictions made by Nostradamus have come true. However, his vision hasn't been all wrong either. Thus, only time can be the answer to these intriguing predictions.
